Another significant event in the history of the town was the landing of the Peekskill Meteorite, which coursed its way through the night sky to impact the trunk of a resident’s automobile. This is one of the few examples in history of the orbit of a meteorite being tracked with precision to its landing site due to 16 individual recordings of it being made during its descent.
